Yep. I had heard of Gary Young’s Great Day Protocol. In fact, I must have somehow subconsciously applied the concept in my own way after hearing about it, or perhaps I intuitively knew what might help me have a great day. Either way, I was glad to be reminded of the protocol today at an essential oils gathering.
I intuitively choose what oils I will use when and for what purpose. Some become part of my daily ritual while other oils I use for different occasions. And of course, there are some oils that I use for physical ailments. But just to feel good, and as Gary Young says, “Have a great day!”- well this seems to be spot on and very close to what I was doing. What is key with the oils, at least for me and many of my oily friends and colleagues, is setting the intention while using and applying the oils. The oils themselves don’t offer a quick fix and they aren’t magic, but they are elemental, of the earth, vibrational, natural, primordial substances we can use to become more in tune with what we need to know about ourselves and those around us.
If you don’t have a sense of where to start or how to utlize the oils in an intuitive manner yet (you probably know more about what you need than you give yourself credit though) then follow this protocol. I give a couple of versions-the long and the short of it- both are reprints from Young Living.
Think about what you already do for self-care, for becoming centred or grounded. Can you image this protocol becoming part of a ritual you already do? Meditation, prayer, self-Reiki, yoga? Take the protocol and make it your own!
Gary Young’s Great Day Protocol- Short Story
Start each day with Gary’s simple routine—and discover how happy and confident you can feel!
- Place one drop of Valor on the inside of your left wrist. Hold the inside of your right wrist to your left wrist for a few minutes. This step balances the body.
- Apply a drop of Harmony to your solar plexus (the area just above your belly button) to calm your mind and promote positive feelings.
- Apply one drop of Joy to the area above your heart. This step helps bring happiness to your mind and body.
- Place a single drop of White Angelica in the palm of your hand and rub your hands together. Lightly brush both hands over your head, face, shoulders, chest, and down the rest of your body as though applying an angelic shield.Young Living e-news, Sep 7, 2011
Gary Young’s Great Day Protocol- Long Story
Here’s the protocol for beginning your great day:
Step 1: Have your Valor, Harmony, Joy, and White Angelica essential oil blends readily available. I have them all lined up on my dresser and anoint myself before getting dressed.Start with Valor, also known for balancing the body’s electrical energy. Apply a few drops in the palm of your left hand, gently rub your palms together, and bring your oiled palms to your nose and inhale. Set your intention for the day, utilizing the grounding properties of this blend. Next, put some Valor on the back of your neck and then place another drop on the inside of your wrists and hold your wrist together for a moment. As you hold the pulse points of your wrists together, again breathe in the oil blend and take a moment to be still while affirming your intentions for the day. What state of being would you like to cultivate? What do you want to accomplish today?
Step 2: Harmony
Place a drop of Harmony on your left palm, rub your palms together, inhaling the oil blend and place some Harmony on your solar plexus, just below your sternum, and above your belly button. This is your third chakra, or your “will” energy center. As you inhale the aroma, use the affirmation, “Let my will harmonize and align to the greater good for all I connect with today.” You may have a specific intention for harmonizing with your customers, your co-workers, family, friends, etc.
Step 3: Joy
This blend is one of Young Living’s signature essential oils and is known for helping lift depression, soothe a broken heart, and may also serve as an aphrodisiac! Place a drop of Joy into your left palm, rub your hands together, and slowly inhale the scent. Then place your hands on your heart. If you are looking to heal your heart or become more open hearted, use these moments to let this blend infuse into your heart’s desire.
Step 4: White Angelica
This blend is known for its properties for energetic protection, like a bouncer for negative energy or disturbing thoughts. Place a drop of White Angelica in your left palm, rub your palms together and deeply inhale. Then gently brush your palms over the crown of your head, down your neck, shoulders, chest, torso, and all the way down your legs to your feet. Imagine this blend encasing your entire body, like a guardian shield. Again, revisit your intention for your day.
